Greetings

“If you’re not helping the planet, get off” is the blunt message on the bag surfing legend Layne Beachley takes to the beach every morning. After her regular exercise routine she spends time collecting rubbish left on the beach. When Green Living caught up with Layne and her fiancé, INXS guitarist Kirk Pengilly, at their home on Sydney’s northern beaches, we were astounded at how quickly Layne filled that bag. It’s part of her daily ritual, wouldn’t it be great if we all followed suit and did our bit for cleaning up public spaces? Here at Green Living we believe that living sustainably is not just about reducing your carbon footprint, important though that is. We think it’s also about living ethically and responsibly. So as well as loads of information and advice about how to build, renovate and decorate your home and keep your environmental impact to an absolute minimum, in each issue we present stories about people who are daring to make a difference to the planet. We introduce you to people who support charities and worthwhile causes, folks who campaign for domestic and wild animals and others who care for kids, at home and abroad. In each issue Maggie Beer presents recipes for local, seasonal produce, which keeps food miles to an absolute minimum and we feature articles about destinations and activities that can be enjoyed with minimal environmental impact. This website is designed to give you an overview of the stories in each issue and we hope you enjoy the articles.

We’d love to hear from you so don’t hesitate to Email Green Living.
